See what I’ve got my eye on for this fall season!

It’s almost time for apple picking, pumpkin patches, corn maze’s! I’m so excited for fall I can barely contain myself!  I am a huge lover of cool weather, pumpkin pie and, of course, all things fall decor! Big chunky sweaters and knit scarves are what I live in during the fall months!  Most of my time is spent indoors cuddled up, watching movies, sipping hot chocolate and apple cider.  We also can’t forget that some of the absolute best holidays are in the fall! I’ve already started planning my Halloween costume, prepping my body for the unhealthy amount of food I’ll consume during Thanksgiving and making my Christmas list!  I like to keep my fall decorations mostly neutral but add accent pieces, pops of color and texture to cozy things up! I also love adding vintage accents to combine old and new!  Here’s a few things I thought were super cute for this fall!  I also included a face mist that is amazing and will keep your skin hydrated and healthy this fall/winter!

My room is finally done after the fourth week of school and countless trips to Hobby Lobby/Target so I thought I would share a peek into my apartment! This is my first apartment and I couldn’t be happier with where I ended up! I live with 3 other girls from my sorority who are amazing and the best people to live with and we are right across the street from campus!

Also, I’m not sure if anyone else can relate but I’ve seen so many dogs since I’ve moved in and I’d have to say thats the best part about living in an apartment so far.

Bonus points: we live almost directly next to Jeff’s Pizza which means smotherellas (if you know you know) which means junior 15?? Hopefully not but probably unavoidable.

Shoutout to my artsy AF mom for making this macrame

If you don’t own a diffuser you need one, seriously. Its the best purchase I’ve made in my life thus far.

So despite still looking 14, I’m officially 20 years old.  Turning 20 has been the biggest checkpoint in my life so far because that’s literally two decades that I’ve been alive. Weird.  I feel like I’ve learned a lot in my two decades on this planet, mostly in the last year, so here’s a list of 20 different things that I’ve learned about life in general, not really in any specific order.

1. Laughter is the best medicine

But really.  Sitting around with all your friends/family and laughing until your stomach hurts. Name a better feeling.

2. You’re never “too cool”

The amount of things I didn’t do when I was younger because I was too embarrassed or thought that the cool kids wouldn’t like me genuinely hurts my soul.  You’re never too cool to have fun.  I used to be that person who would go home and say “man, I really wish I would’ve _____”. Don’t be that person because it’s no fun! Do the silly thing and be ridiculous and weird!

3. Say what you feel

Tell your parents/partner/friends you love them every chance you get! Life is too short to not say how you feel and constantly make it known! I feel like I’m an open book and will always tell people what’s on my mind which can be a good and bad thing.  Honesty can sometimes hurt but it’s way better than being lied to or feeling stuck behind fake feelings making you feel uncomfy/mad/sad.

4. Be nice to everyone

I feel like people are becoming less and less friendly and don’t want to interact as much which is strange to me.  People are interesting and funny and entertaining! Have conversations! My mom always said you should be nice to everyone because you never know who your boss could be one day and I don’t know it just really stuck with me.  There are so many cool people out there in the world and saying “i like your shirt” to someone could make their entire day!

5. Be loyal always

IMPORTANT. Be loyal, be faithful, be genuine.  Be someone that people can count on when they need a friend or someone to talk to!

6. Don’t listen to your own lies

Recently I’ve realized that some of them meanest things I’ve heard about myself are from myself.  The ones that come up when I’ve had an unproductive day or when I’ve eaten almost an entire bag of flavor blasted goldfish while binge-watching Netflix or when I tell myself I’m going to start finally working out and actually just end up going to McDonalds instead. Don’t listen to that stupid voice in your head telling you you’re lazy, unproductive, not pretty, overweight, etc. Self love is so important!

7. Sneak food into the movies

You will never regret this. This literally might be the best piece of advice on this post.  Can I get in trouble for promoting this? I’m not sure I just know I truly enjoy french fries, reasonably priced candy and occasionally ice cream while watching a nice film.

8. YOU are the most important person in your life

Be nice to yourself and your body! Everything starts and ends with you!

9. Wait — Take your time

Great things take time, as cheesy as that sounds.  The best things in life take time and don’t just magically happen overnight (as much as I wish they would i.e me marrying harry styles). Don’t just quickly grab at whatever comes first.

10. Trust your gut

Mostly I’m referring to taking tests because I sit and overthink multiple choice questions way too much and always end up getting the answer wrong when I change it.  But seriously, in life, if something doesn’t feel right it’s probably not.  You know that weird, tingly feeling you get when it seems like somethings up? Yeah, thats what I’m talking about

11. Always order that dessert

Because why not? I can’t tell you the amount of times that I’ve sat in a restaurant staring at the dessert menu and never ordering any because it might make me gain weight or I would be embarrassed (I don’t know why someone would ever be embarrassed about eating desserts in front of people, now that I’m actually typing that it sounds so bizarre). Chocolate is amazing. Sugar is amazing. Never pass it up.

12. Make time

People get tired of excuses and being pushed aside. “I don’t have time”, “I’m so busy”, “I have to watch my dad’s cousin’s son’s parrot”.  Make time today, tomorrow, next week, all the time.

13. Life moves fast

In the blink of an eye it’ll be 2018 and another year will be gone.  Take every opportunity that comes your way and live in the moment! Stop thinking about what’s going to happen tomorrow or next week or next year. Live in the present!

14. “Be friends with faucets, not drains”

Spend your time with people who will consistently fill you up rather than empty you out.  Surround yourself with people who build you up and want to see you succeed! Life is way too short to be around people who constantly want to drag you down and see you fail.

15. Spend time with kids

Because they’re hilarious. Kids are great and so are their brains. They’re so honest.  How we (adults I guess…??) treat them is how they will set the basis for humanity so we better not mess it up!!

16. Not everyone is going to like you

Yikes! It sucks hearing this because I do try to be such a people pleaser but you can’t make everyone happy and that’s okay.  One of my favorite quotes is “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.” ― Dita Von Teese

So true when you think about it.  There’s no way to please everyone in the world so you might as well live life the way you want and do whatever makes you happiest!

17. Show emotion

I will literally never understand why some people think saying “I don’t have emotions” is cool?? Is it cool not to love or cry or get angry or cry tears of joy when you hear that Jersey Shore is filming a reunion show?? I mean really.

18. Do more of what makes you happy

There’s no way to please everyone so just live life the way you want to! Wear the outfit, eat the dessert, say how you feel! If someone doesn’t like what you’re doing then peace out to them! Do what makes you happy always!!

19. Try to resist gossip

“What Susie says of Sally says more of Susie than of Sally.” I’ll leave it at that.

20. Travel often

I’m very fortunate to have parents that love to travel and have taken my sister and I literally across the world.  Traveling gives you such an appreciation for how we live and really makes you realize how big the world actually is and how little all your problems really are.

21. Aim to exceed

Like adding number 21 on a post with a title that says 20 things!
